Ministries

There are many opportunities for our members to learn, serve, and grow at CBC Elko! Take a look at what we have to offer, and if you need more information, reach out to Joan in the office at 775-738-6840 or email her at office@calvaryelko.org.

Here is a list of just some of the ways that CBC Elko ministers to our community:

OCC / SAMARITAN'S PURSE

OCC stands for Operation Christmas Child. This is a ministry of Samaritan's Purse that CBC participates in beginning in the fall, usually in late October. This is also called the "Shoebox Ministry" as we serve children all over the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, goodies, necessities, school supplies, and all kinds of things that a child years 2-14 would enjoy and giving them as gifts. Most importantly, however, they are filled with information about the greatest gift of all- Jesus. This is an outreach that many churches in our area participate in. CBC ELko is one of the collection places for our community to forward these boxes to Samaritans Purse to disperse throughout the world. If you want to help in this ministry, reach out to Joan in the office at 775-738-6840 or email office@calvaryelko.org. Look for more information in early fall.

BROTHEL MINISTRY

We have a group that visits local brothels and ministers to anyone who is interested in hearing about Jesus!

SOUP KITCHEN

We have groups that serve lunch to the homeless.

MISSIONS

We have put together mission trips to various places from here locally in Las Vegas to Colorado to Alaska and as far as Greece, Tanzania, and Romania! We currently have a group going to Tanzania in July 2023.

KENT McADOO MEMORIAL WILD GAME FEED

Every year the men get together for a big wild game cookout and reach out to all the outer-lying areas who would like to come and learn about Jesus from various speakers that range from a large spectrum of experiences, from military personnel to big game hunters who usually have a good testimonial to share.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

This is a ministry for the community to serve folks who need a little or a lot of help recovering from hurts, habits, or hang-ups.
